Prepare students for success through career preparation, leadership development, and co-curricular experiences.

 

Objectives and Tactics

A. Develop learning outcomes aligned with NACE competencies for all leadership and experiential opportunities within the Division.

  • Align all student employee job descriptions with NACE competencies.
  • Align all student involvement, leadership, and volunteer role descriptions with NACE competencies.
  • Develop consistent divisional language, educational opportunities, and training modules on NACE competencies.

 

B. Integrate post-graduation planning conversations into the co-curricular and student employment experience.

  • Develop a career readiness badge that students can earn through their demonstrated understanding of the five career readiness indicators.
  • Embed post-graduation planning conversations in staff meetings, leadership retreats, and 1:1 mentorship conversations with students.
  • Develop resources that help students connect their campus involvement, engagement, and employment experiences with post-graduation goals.
  • Partner with academic programs and integrate post-graduation planning with academic expectations designated by those programs (internships, practica, etc.).

 

C. Educate students about leadership and professional development opportunities and resources available to them.

  • Develop a data informed approach to connect students with leadership resources and professional development opportunities.
  • Offer professional development, leadership training, career development, and/or graduate school preparation workshops for students.
  • Develop an engagement community for supervisors of on-campus student employees to provide best practices for mentorship, student support, and supervision.
