Support and Development

As a SAGA, you’ll have many opportunities to grow beyond your day-to-day role. The Division of Student Affairs offers workshops, seminars, and networking events to help you strengthen your skills and connect with colleagues across campus. You’re also encouraged to attend divisional trainings, join professional development sessions, and take advantage of leadership opportunities. These experiences are designed to support your success as a graduate assistant while preparing you for your future career in student affairs.

 

Internship opportunities within the Division of Student Affairs allow graduate students to take on meaningful, hands-on projects that enhance their learning. Experiences may include coordinating events, developing training resources, assessing programs, supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives, or creating marketing and communication campaigns. These internships are designed to help graduate students apply classroom knowledge, build professional skills, and prepare for future leadership roles in higher education. Student Advocacy: The Graduate Professional Student Congress (GPSC) gives graduate and professional students a collective voice at the University of Arkansas. Through GPSC, students can advocate for their unique needs, strengthen leadership skills, and make a direct impact on campus. Opportunities include serving as a departmental or at-large representative, joining committees, and helping shape policies and resources that support graduate student success. Along with advocacy, GPSC offers professional development opportunities, community-building events, and travel or research grants that support both academic and career growth.

 

 

Additional funding may also be available through your academic department. The amounts and availability of this support are determined at the discretion of your department supervisor.
