Graduate Assistantship Positions
What is a Graduate Assistantship?
Graduate students may apply for Graduate Assistantships (GAs) which are awarded by various departments or units on campus. A GA provides a monthly stipend and a tuition waiver in exchange for 20 hours per week of work. GAs are responsible for for payment of student fees.
Each year the Division of Student Affairs employs 50+ graduate students as graduate assistants for a variety of programs, departments and functional areas.
Graduate assistants have the opportunity to advise student organizations, plan campus programs and events, build communities in our residence halls, contribute to strategic planning and assessment initiatives, provide direct service to students in need, and much more!
Benefits
Effective Fall 2024, minimum stipends for graduate assistants in the Division of Student Affairs are:
$12,750 for 50% appointed, 9 month, master's seeking GAs
$17,000 for 50% appointed, 12 month, master's seeking GAs
$15,300 for 50% appointed, 9 month, PhD seeking GAs
$20,400 for 50% appointed, 12 month, PhD seeking GAs
UARK employees are paid twice a month.

Qualifications & Skills
Applicants for a Division of Student Affairs graduate assistantship should either be admitted to the graduate school or a current graduate student at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. More information can be found at the Graduate School and International Education website.
Applicants should also have the following skills:
- Manage multiple projects at once and work on a deadline
- Possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work both as a team member and independently
- Represent the Division/department in a professional manner
- Cultivate a sense of belonging and well-being within the campus community
Priority will be given to candidates with previous Student Affairs experience and a commitment Higher Education and Student Affairs as a career.
